PROMISE GIVING CHILDREN'S HOME ORGANIZATION.

1.What do they do?
The promise giving children's home is a non profitable organization which was established by George Onyango who is the Director of the organization who started it through selling onions in Wakulima Market in Nairobi Town.It has a total of 100 children of both boys and girls, the youngest being seven days old and the oldest being seventeen years old.
The organisation seeks to help the vulnerable children which these are the street kids and the orphans. The organisation also has partnered with some public and private schools which some  of the children from the orphanage go to. It also engages in women empowerment projects by training them in table banking on how to start small businesses which help them to grow financially.
The organisation also has a feeding program where they mobilize resources and come up with ways of feeding the children and also a health program where they have partnered with some private hospitals such as Mama Lucy hospital, Kenyatta hospital and Tunza to ensure that the children get regular medical checkups and some of which that have medical complications are well attended to medically. It also has a vocational training center where they train the youths and the women in tailoring and hair dressing.
2.Projects.
Tailoring project- the orphanage has managed to start a tailoring project which whereby the women and the youth there are being trained to sew and make school uniforms for the children there. The organisation has only three machines which these are for sewing uniforms, the organisation works towards producing the uniforms in bulk so that they can sell to the markets which this will help in their sustainability.
3.Challenges.
The organisation faces several challenges which some of them include:
Education - most of the private and public schools which the children from the orphanage learn from require the students to pay fees where this has been a major challenge facing the organization due to lack or less funds to help and ensure children acquire quality education. Also they are in need of exercise books and text books which it is hard for them to acquire them considering the cost which it is expensive. The introduction of CBC new form of education which is a bit expensive for them.
Tailoring project-this project is also faced by several challenges where the machines which are available are few and they are I need of several machines to help them in making the uniforms.
Rent- the director says that he is supposed to raise seventy thousand each month for him to be able to pay for the rent which this is a challenge as it has become hard to balance the feeding program, and education for the kids.
