In 2015, world leaders committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Kenya was among the major advocates for the SDGs,
Kenya's as nation serves as a role model to its peers on the implementation of the goals. As Kenya joins the world in implementing the agenda 2030 for sustainable development, the role of NGOs and other CSOs in complementing government interventions is becoming increasingly important.
Key Stakeholder engagement and building strong partnerships between government, private sector and NGOs/CSOs will catalyze Kenya's realization of the SDGs Goals. NGOs work in diverse areas of public interest including Climate change, Health, Food security, Gender and development, Children’s rights, poverty alleviation, Peace, Training, small scale enterprise development, disability among others, and most of all to recognize and reward the good performance of its members. In country planning, SDGs have been mainstreamed by all sectors during the development of the Vision 2030 Third Medium Term Plan (MTP III) (2018-2022) to be launched soon. This also applies to the County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs).
Kenya has laid down a robust framework and mainstreaming measures to implement SDGs. Some of the thematic areas in the implementation plan include awareness creation. Policy formulation and implementation and stakeholder mapping. NGOs and the work they do with communities contribute to achieving all the Sustainable Development Goals.
We shall hold one day National NGOs/CSOs dialogue on Friday 20th December 2022 in Nairobi that will bring together various International Organizations, National Organizations and grassroots Based Organizations among other key stakeholders together to exchange knowledge, ideas, address the challenges and set out clear areas of collaboration towards achieving the goals and celebrate excellence in NGOs/CSOs and other stakeholders realization of the SDGs.
The participants are national NGOs /CSOs, county-based Organizations and other key stakeholders in the SDGs and development process.
Conference objectives
Organizations play a significant role in complimenting the efforts of government in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals; the event aims to enhance multi-stakeholder engagement in achieving the SDGs will be :
I. Deliberating on the role of NGOs in contributing to SDGs realization and national development
II. It further seeks to fill the capacity gaps experienced by NGOs in their work through well-moderated thematic deliberations.
III.Celebrate organizations who have achieved milestones in realizing the 17 goals.
IV.Enhance peer support and encourage NGO government collaboration to implement and report on the SDGs.
The Various partners who will participate work towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The coalition collaborates with key development actors in Government, private sector and works at National and county levels to promote both county and national government accountability for sustainable development through leveraging the non- state actors’ role in qualitative monitoring and constructive dialogue for effective SDGs implementation.
The partnership on this noble course is to promote accountability for the effective implementation of SDGs at national, county and community levels towards achieving the ambitious SDGs targets.
Opening plenary
Consisting of a high-level panel discussion on government SDG implementation processes, the SDGs and NGOs action on SDGs.
Experiences sharing session: designed to discuss emerging trends and challenges in achieving the goals and come up with tangible action points.
Summary sessions
Participants will go back to the main plenary and rapporteurs from the breakout sessions will briefly present the outcomes of their sessions and a few questions and comments will be allowed from the plenary.
SDGs Awards ceremony.
The ceremony will award of over 100 various National and grassroots-based organizations and individuals from around the Kenya doing exemplary community service and work towards SDGs implementation and other development agenda in Kenya
